About the talk
Game genres come with conventions, and following them is usually the safer bet. But those conventions do not always fit the game you are trying to make. Using Sorcery Mastery—a mix of MOBAs, roguelikes, Battle Royales and split-screen local multiplayer—as a case study, this talk explores when established conventions help, when they are worth breaking, and how unusual design choices can be justified.
